Bam Adebayo is one of the best defenders in the NBA today and he made the All-Defensive Second Team for the fourth year in a row in 2023.

He has helped the Miami Heat get back to the NBA Finals where they’ll take on the Denver Nuggets. Bam has his eyes set on winning his first championship but George Karl thinks he might get roasted in the series by Nikola Jokic.

“I’m a big fan of Bam and I think he could have a good Finals series on the offensive side.
Defensively, I think he’s going to have a very hard time and he could get absolutely roasted by the Joker.”

If Bam gets roasted by Jokic, he certainly isn’t going to be the first this postseason. The Serbian has averaged 29.9 PPG, 13.3 RPG, 10.3 APG, 1.1 SPG, and 0.9 BPG in their run to the Finals while going up against Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns, Deandre Ayton, and Anthony Davis.

Davis had arguably been the best defender in these playoffs but Jokic still averaged 27.8 PPG while shooting 50.6% from the field and 47.1% from beyond the arc against the Los Angeles Lakers. Even Bam, for as good as he is, is going to find it extremely difficult to slow down Jokic.

Adebayo needs to have a big series offensively to at least tire the Serbian a little bit. He has averaged 16.8 PPG, 9.2 RPG, 3.8 APG, 1.0 SPG, and 0.6 BPG so far in these playoffs and those scoring numbers will have to be higher.

Paul George Admitted He Has No Idea On How To Guard Nikola Jokic

Jokic has made so many elite big men look foolish in the last couple of years and no one has been able to find a way to stop him. The biggest reason why the Nuggets didn’t have success in their last two postseason trips prior to this one was because the likes of Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. were injured.

With both now back, teams can no longer just completely key in on Jokic and he has crushed his individual matchup time and time again. Paul George said Jokic counters every defense thrown at him and added that the Los Angeles Clippers have never figured out how to guard him. Tennis legend and fellow Serb Novak Djokovic called Jokic the best player in the world and at this point, it is hard to argue with that.
