Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors may not have made the Conference Finals, but the former was happy that the Boston Celtics fans were upset after their team went down 4-3 to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Speaking on The Volume Sports, Green roasted the fans saying, “Boston Celtics fans will make excuses. And I ain’t hearing none of that s**t because ya’ll rude and I’m happy that y’all lost.”
“Not happy that JT (Jayson Tatum) lost,” he added. “But Boston Celtics fans, especially those of you in the arena, I am happy that y’all lost because… stop being who you are. I’ve heard that before, but you know what I mean. Like, stop being the way that y’all are. Like at some point, you all can’t stop being that way.”

After trailing the series 0-3, the Celtics roared back to even the scoreline forcing a Game 7 but were outplayed by the Heat, who notched up a comprehensive 103-84 win at the TD Garden.
Green has a history with the Celtics fans. In the last season, he was subject to a volley of verbal jabs by the Boston fans, where he also said he was called the N-word multiple times during the NBA Finals.
“I was rattled,” Green said. “I never heard an entire gym, every time I touch the ball, or I don’t have the ball, entire gym ‘f**k you Draymond.’ I thought that was cool. That didn’t rattle me. But when I’m running down the court and it’s b**ch and it’s the n-word, it’s these things… it’s like, those are insults to my character. Those are insults to me as a man. And so you’re in this place where it’s like, I really wanna grab one of these people and wring their neck. But imma lose that battle. I’ve cost my team a championship before. Imma loses that battle.”
Celtics fans have built a reputation for being relentless when it comes to mind games with the opponents, and true to their word, they did quite a number of Green. But as it appears, the forward had the better of them for the second time.
Draymond Green Admits Preparing To Face Celtics Fans Was Tough Ahead Of The 2022-23 Season
Earlier this season, Green had recounted what it was like to face the Celtics and their fans in their own backyard, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience.
“Whenever you know what to expect, you can plan for it. I’ve been around for 11 years, so I thought I had seen it all. But that, I had never seen before,” Green told ESPN. “I guess with this, there was no real way to prepare for it. Except mentally know what you’re walking into. When that happens I can tune it out. But that first time I couldn’t tune it out.”
Come next season, the Celtics fans will surely sharpen their claws when the Warriors make a trip to the East Coast. And there’s no denying that the war of words will continue.
