Scottie Pippen’s “horrible” comments on Michael Jordan continue to do the rounds, and former Chicago Bulls star Brian Scalabrine became the latest to join the list of players slamming Pippen.
Speaking on The Starting Lineup, Scalabrine thought Pippen was under the influence when sharing his thoughts on the controversy. “Oh my God, he’s gotta be on drugs, right?” he said.
“Your definition of a horrible player, what does a horrible player look like then? He’s not a horrible basketball player, Michael Jordan has always been a high-level basketball player…Danny Ainge told me ‘From the time I saw Michael Jordan, the first time on the NBA court, I said to myself ‘This is the greatest player I’ve ever seen.’ And we all knew, even with Larry Bird on the team, that he was the best player on the floor.’ And that was all before Scottie Pippen got there.”
While other players dared not to say it, Scalabrine didn’t mince his words as he called it as he saw it.
Pippen continues to receive criticism after calling Jordan a horrible player earlier. In a Stacey King podcast chapter, Pippen lambasted MJ calling him horrible. “LeBron will be the greatest statistical guy that ever played the game of basketball…I see Michael Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls. He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with… He’s shooting bad shots.”
And the brickbats have been hurled at Pippen since, with Scalabrine being the latest to join in.
Former Bulls Star Ron Harper Unhappy With Scottie Pippen’s Remarks
Ron Harper was another Bulls player who was shocked by Pippen’s comments. “Stop putting a mic in front of him please!!!!!” he wrote on Twitter.
Given MJ’s credentials, Pippen’s words can surely be taken with a pinch of salt as the former finished his career as a 14x All-Star, 11x All-NBA player, and 6x champion — all of which Pippen is clearly aware and part of.
MJ hasn’t responded to Pippen’s tirade yet. But there is no doubt that he will avoid having any sort of argument and blow it up with his former teammate.
