Right now, former star Gilbert Arenas is known mostly for his analysis of the game and his work in the media. However, there was a point in time where he was one of the best players in the league, and the face of the Washington Wizards.

In his prime, Gilbert Arenas was well-known for his scoring ability and jump-shooting prowess. In fact at one point, during a Team USA practice, he dominated multiple superstars like LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Carmelo Anthony.

“My team… one one side he has LeBron, DWade, Joe Johnson, Chris Paul, Melo, Dwight, Chris Bosh. On the other side… Kirk Hinrich, Bruce Bowen, me, Antawn Jamison, Brad Miller… My team, we didn’t have the star power… They decide, Brad Miller, of course Antwan Jamison, Kirk Hinrich, give me the ball the whole time, let me just destroy them I’m faster… We’re beating that squad, we’re beating the blue squad. We’re sitting here celebrating and for some reason, I got all the hate for this.”

There’s no doubt that this is a wild story, that illustrates just how unstoppable Gilbert Arenas was during his career. Unfortunately, off-court issues and injuries derailed his career, but his talent was clearly of someone that was destined for the Hall of Fame.

Throughout his career, Gilbert Arenas averaged 20.7 PPG, 3.9 RPG, and 5.3 APG. He was a three-time All-NBA selection by the age of 25, and perhaps he could have been an MVP without injuries.

Gilbert Arenas Believes That He Was Better Than Stephen Curry At 25

As a scorer, one has to have the requisite confidence to go out there and dominate even when things are difficult. Gilbert Arenas is definitely not lacking in that department, as he previously claimed that at 25, he was better than Stephen Curry.

“I got hurt at 25,” Arenas said on the I Am Athlete podcast. “So if you stop me at 25, Steph [Curry] would have had nothing on me.”

It is true that Stephen Curry got the majority of his accomplishments and championships after the age of 25, and it is easy to see why Arenas believes that he was better than Curry at that age. Still, Stephen Curry developed into an MVP-level player who is able to dominate on any given night as he continued improving as a player. In terms of overall career, it is fair to say that Stephen Curry far surpasses Gilbert Arenas.
