Guard James Harden is no longer an MVP-level player, but during his time with the Philadelphia 76ers, the star has shown that he can still be an elite complementary player next to another superstar.

Despite his play on the court, some have criticized James Harden in the past for reportedly being a player that had issues with both coaches and teammates. Recently, however, Bruce Brown has recently spoken up about James Harden as a teammate noting that the star is one of the “best teammates” he’s had.

“When he left, the locker room was kind of quiet. Nobody really did much together…James was a great teammate on and off the court, and was definitely one of the best teammates I’ve ever had…he’s just a different breed.”

A lot of the time, stories about locker room issues are exaggerated. There is also frequent conflicting reporting regarding those issues. James Harden has definitely been praised for being a good teammate in the past, and it is clear that a number of players think very highly of him.

In the playoffs with the Philadelphia 76ers, James Harden has averaged 20.3 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 8.3 APG. It is clear that he is still a quality player, and it’ll be interesting to see if he ends up staying with the team in free agency.

The Philadelphia 76ers Don’t Want To Pay James Harden A Max Contract

Even though James Harden is still a great player, there is still some discussion about whether his play warrants a max contract. In fact, some recent reporting indicated that the Philadelphia 76ers don’t want to pay James Harden the max.

“The 76ers have not shown an appetite to pay Harden the max. That’s why they asked him to take a pay cut last year. The Rockets have the cap space. Do they do it? There has been a very hard rumor about Harden’s intent to go back to Houston and it makes you wonder if it’s being sold a little bit too hard. I guess we’re going to find out. The Sixers are not really motivated to pay him that max salary if they don’t think anybody else is going to do it.”

We will see what ends up happening regarding James Harden’s future. There have been some reports that there are teams that are willing to pay him $200 million over four years, but it is clear that the 76ers are not one of those teams.
