Patrick Beverley and Chris Paul have had a very interesting rivalry over the last few years, with PatBev making a target out of yet another Hall of Fame point guard.
Beverley ripped into CP3 on ESPN after Paul’s Suns lost to the Mavericks in the 2022 Finals. In his latest tirade against CP, Beverley called him the dirtiest player in the NBA.
“Chris Paul. It’s a shock when you say it in front of people not in the basketball world, but when you say it in front of like basketball players and referees, even referees, ‘Okay, yeah, that doesn’t surprise me’. You go for a layup, push from the back. You go for a loose ball, grab on your knee. I would never grab another player’s knee.”

Many fans share this opinion of Paul, who masterfully navigates NBA rules to give his team every possible advantage he can get. This includes gamesmanship on the court in the manner that Beverley described. It doesn’t seem like PatBev will ever be rushing to give CP3 compliments, but at this point, CP probably doesn’t even care for them.
The End Of Chris Paul’s Era In Phoenix
Chris Paul is being heavily linked to a move away from the Suns this summer, as the team looks to refocus its attention on building a roster around Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. CP3’s decline over the last few seasons has made his salary feel like an albatross that the luxury tax Suns will have to carry with them. Instead, being able to flip that contract into less-regarded rotational players could give Phoenix some depth across their barebones roster.
It’ll be fascinating to see how much longer CP’s time with the Suns will continue and if he’ll be on the roster come training camp in September. With an unclear future for Deandre Ayton as well, the Phoenix front office has a long summer ahead of them.
