Jimmy Butler’s off-court mistake cost him a bit of his moolah after the NBA slapped him with $25,000 for refusing to talk to the media after Game 3 vs. the Boston Celtics.

“The fine results from Butler’s failure to participate in a required media availability following Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on May 21,” the league said, via Bleacher Report.

The Heat took a dominant 3-0 lead after recording a blowout 128-102 win against the Celtics — a game that saw Butler rack up 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Maybe, that was one of the reasons behind Butler not being keen on talking after what was a relatively quiet game for him by his own standards.

Miami is just one win away from booking an NBA Finals berth — their second in four years, and they have Butler to largely thank for it. The forward is averaging 29.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists this season and led the Heat to comprehensive series wins over the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks in the playoffs.

Irrespective of the outcome of Game 4 on Tuesday, Jimmy Buckets will surely not miss out on his media commitments after the recent fine.

Jimmy Butler Explains The Heat’s Fourth Quarter Strategy

Going in tune with his mantra of keeping things simple, Jimmy Butler had a rather straightforward reply when asked about the team’s fourth-quarter strategy.

“I think our game plan is kind of simple in the fourth quarter if I’m being brutally honest,” Butler said. “It’s kind of like, ‘Give me the ball and move,’ and I’m tasked with making the right play. Sometimes I shoot the ball. Most of the time, I shoot the ball. A lot of times, it’s passing to the open guy.”

And that’s worked well in his and Miami’s favor so far as they have left Boston clueless If anything, Butler has been supremely confident of the team’s run and now they have one more game left to win the Conference Finals. The only question is whether the Celtics have what it takes to force a Game 5.
