The Los Angeles Lakers season has ended at the hands of the Denver Nuggets as a Game 4 loss led to them getting swept out of the Western Conference Finals.
LeBron James had a valiant 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists in the elimination game loss and looked distraught after, walking off the court after dapping Nikola Jokic up.

James was evidently tense throughout the game and ended up getting heavily fatigued by the time the second half started. He had 31 points in the first half, including some incredible threes, along with a confrontation with Aaron Gordon. Ultimately, his legs started giving out in the second half as James ended the night with 48 minutes played as a 38-year-old in Year 20.
What’s The Recipe For Success In LA?
This season was a massive overachievement for the Lakers and that shouldn’t be forgotten. Making the playoffs after a 2-10 start is incredible. The depth they got in the Russell Westbrook trade allowed them to make a playoff push without LeBron at the tail end of the series. Now, they need to decide if they will prioritize depth or go star-hunting once again like Kyrie Irving.
James will be coming back for Year 21 in the final season of his career before his son Bronny gets drafted. He has a player option at the end of next season, so teams with cap space will wonder if drafting Bronny leads to LeBron signing up with them for the first-ever season in NBA history where a father and son played on the same team together. We’ll see and it’ll depend heavily on what LA does this offseason and whether they can be title contenders.
