Anthony Edwards has been one of the more instrumental pieces in the Minnesota Timberwolves unit since his arrival in the NBA, but his impressive run has been somewhat lost amid all that happens during a regular NBA season.

According to former Wolves star Damjan Rudez who spoke to Basketball Network, “Anthony Edwards is in a smaller market and still needs to make that final leap.”

“So he might have to complete his rise to potential superstardom with a different team. Minnesota is a historically troubled franchise, plus living there with the cold weather is also a downside that will not attract free agents. But again, Ant has potential, and I believe his charisma is appealing to younger fans.”

Edwards has been more than promising this season, averaging 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. He has also been equally efficient this season, draining 45.9% from the field and 36.9% from three-point land.

The Wolves have exercised the club option on Edwards’ 4-year, 44.2 million contract, but when he does get shot at exploring FA waters, there will surely be no dearth of suitors.

Anthony Edwards Is Chasing Michael Jordan’s Greatness

Not the one to mince words, Anthony Edwards revealed that lofty goal he had set for himself, and it was chasing Michael Jordan.

“I’m chasing my boy M.J., for sure,” he said via Star Tribune. “It’ll be hard, but I’m chasing him.” This comes on the back of his earlier comment where he called himself the best player in the NBA.

Patrick Beverley, who spent some time with Edwards during his time with Minnesota, believes the latter has what it takes to be the next MJ. “I was expecting people to call me crazy, and I told them he could be the next Michael Jordan,” Beverley remarked.

Edwards is still in his early days in the NBA, and while his attitude may come off as cocky, he has the skill, athleticism, and talent to achieve his objective. Only time will tell if he can indeed maintain his consistency and reach the level he’s expected to be at.
