Forward Draymond Green is one of the key players on the Golden State Warriors, and there’s no question that his defense and playmaking has been crucial for the team over the course of his tenure with them.

With that being said, the Golden State Warriors are at risk of losing Draymond Green this summer. He could end up declining his player option with the franchise, and going elsewhere in free agency. Steve Kerr recently got real on the prospect of the forward leaving, noting that the Warriors simply wouldn’t be a championship-level team without him.

“If Draymond’s not back, we’re not a championship contender. We know that.”

It will be interesting to see what Draymond Green decides to do this summer. There are likely a number of teams that would be interested in his services, with him previously being linked to the Los Angeles Lakers

This playoffs, Draymond Green has averaged 9.4 PPG, 6.9 RPG, and 6.8 APG for the Golden State Warriors. There is no doubt that he had a solid run, and we’ll see what ends up happening regarding his future with the team.

Draymond Green Previously Gave His Honest Take On His Future With The Golden State Warriors

Previously, we saw Draymond Green get real about his future with the Golden State Warriors. He admitted that he knows the league is a business, but added that he believes he and the Warriors can still win more championships.

“My future with the Warriors… obviously I have a player option. My agent is Mr. Richard Paul. He is the best in the business,” said Green. “I said all of that to say, we have not had the opportunity yet to sit down and discuss any future things. If I call Rich during the season and I was like, ‘Rich alright so here’s what I’m thinking for free agency’ he’d probably hang up in my face. He’s not ever jumping the gun, he’s not about to talk contract during the season. So as far as the future goes, what I can tell you is, like I said last night, which is I want to be here. I’ve been here 11 years. You don’t just give that away, you don’t just throw that away. And quite frankly, I think we still have more championships that we can and will win. But there’s also an understanding that this is a business and I know the business side of it. I know the penalties that lie ahead with the new CBA. I think winning is worth it…”

There’s no question that it is in the Warriors’ best interest to retain Draymond Green if they want to win a championship. We will see if they can come to an agreement with him and Rich Paul in free agency.
