NBA Insider Believes Clippers Are A Logical Trade Destination For Chris Paul

Even though he is now an older player, point guard Chris Paul is still an impactful player that can help a team improve offensively. His passing and knowledge of the game is still next level, and every team that adds him gets better.

There have been previous reports that have suggested that the Phoenix Suns will aggressively be trying to trade Chris Paul this offseason. NBA insider Zach Lowe recently claimed that the Clippers have stated that the Clippers could be a good destination for Chris Paul. (48:50)

“Lots of teams that can use Chris Paul for a short-term contract that you can get out of after one year,” Lowe said. “And I mention the aggregation thing only because of one team I would look at. And this is through no reporting. I have no inside sources. The Clippers have telegraphed that they think they need a point guard to run their team.”

The Los Angeles Clippers might not be able to retain Russell Westbrook at the end of this season, and it makes sense for them to try and get a point guard. They were clearly a better team with a true floor general like Westbrook, and perhaps Chris Paul could have a similar effect.

In the playoffs, Chris Paul has averaged 12.4 PPG, 5.0 RPG, and 7.4 APG for the Phoenix Suns. It will be interesting to see if he ends up on the Los Angeles Clippers and anything can happen in the future.

Chris Paul Understands The Phoenix Suns Could Decide To Trade Him

The Phoenix Suns had a disappointing playoff run this season despite the fact that they traded for Kevin Durant midseason, and Chris Paul’s absence from the team in the second round due to an injury was part of that. It is easy to see why the franchise would decide to trade him, and it seems as though Chris Paul understands that he might not be back with the Suns.

“My contract not up,” Paul said. “But unfortunately I’m not the GM or anything like that. So we’ll see.”

It will be interesting to see if there are indeed any takers for Chris Paul this offseason. A number of teams could use his talents, but obviously, what the Phoenix Suns demand in return will be key.
