Ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft, projected No. 2 pick Scoot Henderson will be mentored by Stephen Curry as the talented point guard starts his career in the NBA with advice from one of the greatest guards to ever play the game.

Curry will mentor both Scoot and his sister Moochie Henderson as they hope to enjoy lasting careers in the sport and impact the world off the court. Steph spoke about the talented Henderson siblings and this partnership to the Associated Press.

“They’ve developed a perspective on the blessings from the game of basketball and the doors that it’s opened and the platform that you’re given. The resources you have access to can all lead to a sense of purpose outside of just putting the ball in the basket. They’re obviously wise beyond their years on that front and understanding that you can do both.”

Scoot reacted to this collaboration between him and the greatest shooter in the history of the game.

“Just getting this early training and early knowledge from Steph mentoring me and the people around him, it’s a blessing. Me just turning 19, just getting that knowledge early, it’s really cool.”

Henderson will have more clarity on his NBA future after tomorrow night’s Draft Lottery that will finally decide the order of the top-14 picks in one of the most anticipated drafts in recent memory.

Scoot Henderson Looking To Carve His Own Path

We haven’t seen NBA prospects openly announce mentorship deals like this, especially with a player of the caliber of Stephen Curry. This is a monumental partnership for future prospects, as the stamp of approval from a legend of the game like this will have an impact on how teams perceive Scoot heading into the pre-Draft phase.

With Victor Wembanyama likely set in stone as the No. 1 overall pick, Henderson will hope to stay ahead of Alabama’s Brandon Miller in the 2023 Draft. His work with Curry should greatly impact his understanding of the game and he’ll hope to put it on display for the scouts to see during the Combine and pre-Draft workouts with interested teams.
