Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have been eliminated from the 2023 NBA playoffs following a blowout Game 7 loss against the Boston Celtics.
In the postgame conference, Embiid used Giannis Antetokounmpo’s viral speech about the season not being a failure. SportsCenter posted Embiid quoting Giannis on its official Instagram account with laughing emoticons. The Greek Freak seemingly got mad at the media outlet and wondered what was so funny about it.

Giannis was flamed by the media and fans for his popular speech. Embiid received similar treatment from them.
After all, Embiid won the 2022-23 MVP award, and expectations were at an all-time high to lead the 76ers, at least, to a spot in the NBA Finals.

In the most crucial game of the season, Joel Embiid recorded just 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 1 assist. Evidently, fans were disappointed by his performance.
During the postgame conference, Embiid was expected to take accountability for the terrible loss. But the 29-year-old threw his teammates under the bus.
“Me and James, we can’t win alone. That’s why basketball is played five-on-five. We need everybody to find ways to be better.”
It was truly shocking to see Embiid calling out his teammates when he had an awful Game 7 performance. Yes, basketball is played five-on-five, but the superstars of any given team are expected to lead by example.
Both Joel Embiid and James Harden failed to do so in the final game of the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Boston Celtics. Hopefully, Embiid realizes his mistake and instead of putting the blame on his teammates, he shares it as well.
