The New York Knicks were eliminated in the Conference Semifinals by the Miami Heat on Friday, and some of their fans weren’t taking it too well.

Following their team’s defeat in Game 6, Knicks fans directed their anger at Julius Randle, tearing down and then stomping on his poster at Madison Square Garden.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, someone also defaced the poster.

Randle struggled in Game 6, finishing with 15 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks while shooting 3-14 from the field. He had a rough postseason, in general, following his return from injury, as he averaged just 16.6 PPG, 8.3 RPG, and 3.6 APG while shooting 37.4% from the field. You can understand fans being disappointed and upset over his play, but they went too far by acting in this manner. It is quite frankly embarrassing they’d do something like this to their own player.

Julius Randle Has Had A Troubled Relationship With The Knicks Fanbase

On paper, Randle should be a well-liked figure among the fanbase, as he is the only Knicks player to be named an All-Star in the last five seasons. In the 2022-23 campaign, he averaged 25.1 PPG, 10.0 RPG, and 4.1 APG to be named an All-Star for the second time as a Knick, but the fans have never quite embraced him.

Last year, he was booed by some fans at MSG in a game against the Boston Celtics and responded by giving a thumbs down, with his message to them being, “Shut the f*** up.” A fan also claimed last year that Randle had him thrown out of the arena by security for light-heckling. He certainly hasn’t endeared himself to the fanbase, so when he does struggle, they don’t hesitate to go after him.

It wasn’t just these fans who were upset with Randle after the series, though, as Stephen A. Smith wants the Knicks to trade him. He doesn’t like his body language on the court and is done with him at this point, as Smith doesn’t believe the Knicks can win with the big man.
