Guard Jordan Poole was considered one of the key members of the Golden State Warriors this regular season, and many considered him among the best sixth men in the league.
However, in the playoffs, the guard has struggled though, and Poole is currently averaging only 10.5 PPG while shooting 34.2% from the field in the postseason. He notably had a poor game 4 performance, going 0-4 and finishing with 0 points. After the game, Stephen Curry defended Poole, noting that everyone on the team has to be better.
“We get questions about him a lot and it’s our whole team, we’re all together in the sense of trying to figure out how to win playoff games,” Curry said of Poole per Tim Kawakami of The Athletic. “We all have to make adjustments. We all have to play better, considering we’re in a 3-1 hole. So there’s no sense in isolating him in this situation. It’s all about collectively what can we all do to be better. The conversations we have in film sessions and on the bench, in the locker room, are all consistent throughout the season, especially in this playoff run, of trying to answer that question.
There is no doubt that it is unfair to only blame Jordan Poole for the Warriors losing Game 4 and being down 3-1 at this moment. Losing like winning is a team affair, and there are other players on the Warriors that are underperforming as well.
In the regular season, Jordan Poole averaged 20.4 PPG, 2.7 RPG, and 4.5 APG for the Warriors. The team will need him to get back to that level of production to have a chance of coming back against the Lakers, and we’ll see if he rises up to the challenge.
Jordan Poole Has Thrown Shade At Steve Kerr About His Playing Time Already
There’s no doubt that part of being able to play well from a scoring standpoint is about getting playing time and developing a rhythm. Jordan Poole’s playing time has been drastically cut in the playoffs, and the young guard previously threw shade at Steve Kerr over his minutes.
“Got the opportunity to play more out there and catch my rhythm,” Poole said. “I think that’ll be a big thing. Only so much you can do when you play 15 minutes.
We will see if Steve Kerr ends up giving Jordan Poole more playing time in the future. The Warriors desperately need more offense next to Stephen Curry, and perhaps Poole can help in that department if he catches a rhythm.
