The Los Angeles Lakers were utterly outplayed by the Golden State Warriors in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals.

It was a 127-100 win for the Dubs as they level the series at 1-1. Following the blowout loss, LeBron James spoke about the defense of the Lakers. He still believes that the Lakers are the best defensive team in the league.

“We still are [the best defensive team in the NBA],” James said. “That doesn’t change. We’re still the best defensive team in the league, if not one of them. So that doesn’t change, that’s where we hang our hats on. But like I said, you need to give credit where credit is due. Klay spectacular night. Draymond was great in the pocket pass, in the rolls, in the things of that nature.

“JaMychal Green was big time. His 12 minutes felt like 24 minutes or 30 minutes. He was big time for his team. So you credit, like I said where credit is due, and we move on to the next game. But our defense is where we hang our hat. That doesn’t stop no matter who we play against.”

Throughout the playoffs, the Los Angeles Lakers have taken pride in their superior defense. They dominated the Memphis Grizzlies by using their defensive prowess in the first round of the postseason.

The Lakers continued that in Game 1 vs. the Warriors. But they couldn’t bring the same level of commitment in the second game of the series.

Stephen Curry Defeated LeBron James In The Playoffs Without Kevin Durant For The First Time Since 2016

Stephen Curry and LeBron James have been fierce rivals for several years now. But a part of Curry’s success in the playoffs against James goes to Kevin Durant.

So much so that the Game 2 win vs. the Lakers was the first time in 2,518 days that Curry defeated James without Durant by his side.

It just goes to prove just how dominant the Warriors were when Durant was part of the team. The Dub Nation will hope they can emulate some of that success in the Western Conference Semifinals vs. the Lakers this season.
