Stephen A. Smith sounded a warning gong to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of their Game 1 of the second round of the playoffs against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

“I suspect there’s a healthy level of fear of Steph Curry,” Smith said on First Take when asked about James’ praise for Curry earlier this week. “It’s justified. “Who ain’t scared to death of Steph? … Steph Curry has been a walking nightmare for LeBron James. LeBron knows what’s coming.”

Smith’s comments come on the back of the Lakers’ superstar, who praised Curry for “putting in the work.”

“He puts in the work, and when you put in the work, nine times out of 10 you’re going to see results. He’s done that throughout his whole entire career. I have nothing but the utmost respect for everything he’s been able on the floor not only on the floor but off the floor, too,” said James, per Michael Corvo of ClutchPoints.

And James knows it better than anyone else, considering he was on the losing side three of the four times he faced the Golden State Warriors between 2014 to 2018. He also knows the mammoth effort he had to put in to get the Cleveland Cavaliers across the finish line in 2016. Now, he and the Lakers face a stern challenge in the form of Curry and the Warriors.

Stephen Curry Shares His Thoughts On Facing The Los Angeles Lakers

Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors might be firm favorites to win the series against the Lakers, but the sharpshooter was wary of the challenge they have coming.

“They’ve obviously been a different team since the trade deadline…They’re playing unbelievable. All the pieces fit. It’s going to be a huge test for us.”

Curry was in scorching form against the Sacramento Kings averaging 33.7 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 4.9 APG. And as long as he continues to dish out that level of production, Golden State can be assured that LA will not have it easy. But one can never discard a side with James on it, and the Warriors will be aware of the threat the veteran brings.
