Few NBA playoff series have been as hyped and anticipated in recent history as much as the upcoming Western Conference Semifinals between the Lakers and the Warriors.

Both teams are led by the biggest superstars, LeBron James and Stephen Curry are the greatest players of their era. And their rosters are on a similar level too. For most people, that makes the series hard to predict, but as per the 15 NBA analysts polled by ESPN, the Warriors seem to have an overwhelming advantage.

Golden State Warriors vs. Los Angeles Lakers Predictions:

Kendra Andrews: Warriors in 6

Jerry Bembry: Warriors in 6

Jamal Collier: Warriors in 6

Nick DePaula: Warriors in 6

Nick Friedell: Warriors in 6

Kirk Goldsberry: Warriors in 7

Israel Gutierrez: Warriors in 7

Tim Legler: Warriors in 7

Bobby Marks: Warriors in 6

Dave McMenamin: Lakers in 6

Kevin Pelton: Warriors in 7

Ramona Shelburne: Warriors in 7

André Snellings: Lakers in 6

Marc Spears: Warriors in 7

Ohm Youngmisuk: Warriors in 7

As you can see, 13 analysts have gone with the Golden State Warriors to win, with only Andre Snellings and Dave McMenamin picking the Lakers to advance. Across the board, everyone expects the series to go to at least six games, which means it will be a hard-fought battle. But nearly all of them seem to think that the Warriors will have the upper hand.

The Lakers vs. Warriors Series Is Tough To Predict

There is a championship-winning experience with the Golden State Warriors just as there is with the Los Angeles Lakers. Both have a top 10 player of all time on the team and supplementary All-Star caliber players. Both teams also have roster depth and a versatile supporting cast that can swing the outcome of the series. There is no certainty about either team winning.

Our writer, Eddie Bitar, made the case for the Lakers, pointing out five reasons they can come out on top in the series. When discussing the issue on social media, NBA fans don’t seem to have reached a consensus on which team will get the job done.

Stephen Curry’s playoff record against LeBron James suggests that he has the upper hand, but their teams are much more even than they were at times in the past. The only guarantee in this series, despite what a lot of the ESPN analysts seem to think, is that it will be an exciting series with no concrete way to predict the outcome.
