The Memphis Grizzlies have already begun making their offseason moves, the first of which was showing Dillon Brooks the door, leaving Twitter in a tizzy.

The development was broken by The Athletic’s Shams Charania. “The Memphis Grizzlies have informed pending free agent Dillon Brooks that he will not be brought back under any circumstances, league sources say,” he tweeted.

This led to widespread reactions from fans. One of the fans focused on the “under any circumstances” part.

The trolls weren’t far behind.

Some believed a trip to China was in order.

A fan thought it was a “smart move by the Grizzlies.”

His “poking the bear” comment was back doing the rounds.

Per The Athletic, “After his tumultuous end to the season, Brooks was told about the Grizzlies‘ decision to move on in exit meetings with team officials in recent days, those sources said. Memphis and Brooks discussed in exit meetings that it’s best for both sides to have a fresh start, sources added.”

The outlet also added: “Memphis did make contract extension offers to Brooks early in the season, which were rejected and led to the end of talks, sources said.”

Dillon Brooks Doesn’t Regret His Controversial Statements To LeBron James

One of the major highlights of the first-round matchup between the two teams was Brooks taking shots at LeBron James calling him old, and soon after he also added that wasn’t regretting his statements.

“I’ll continue to be me and get better at what I do,” said Brooks in the aftermath of the series. It was a tumultuous period for the Grizzlies, and Brooks hadn’t made it any easier by beefing with multiple players on numerous occasions.

The issue was his game which didn’t do much of the talking as he averaged 10.5 PPG, 3.0 RPG, and 1.8 APG in the playoffs. With Brooks’ time in Memphis effectively over, only time will tell where he will land in the NBA.
