Paul George Says The Clippers Would Have Beat The Suns In The First Round If They Were Healthy

The Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round, and there’s no doubt that this was a disappointing outcome for the team given the fact that they expected to compete for the championship this season.

One of the reasons the Clippers ended up losing was due to injuries to their key star players. Kawhi Leonard suffered a meniscus tear after Game 2, while Paul George missed the series entirely due to a sprained knee. They were competitive in all five games of the series, and recently, Paul George claimed that the team would have won had they been fully healthy. (0:25)

“This was very much a series I think we should have won and could have gotten past if we [were] healthy. Absolutely I believe we had everything to beat Phoenix. It’s frustrating, especially as years go up, you look back at this shit and, like damn, another year – not necessarily wasted – but another year of not getting a chance to compete. To get to the finish line and not be able to compete is the hardest part of it all.”

There’s no doubt that the Clippers would have had a good chance to win the series if Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were present. However, at this point, that is a hypothetical scenario, but perhaps we’ll see a rematch between the two teams next season.

This year, Paul George averaged 23.8 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 5.1 APG for the Los Angeles Clippers. He had a great regular season, and hopefully, we see him ball out next season.

Paul George Sent A Message To Clippers Fans

Previously, we saw Paul George send a message to Clippers fans at the conclusion of the season, promising to get things right “at some point.” It is clear that the last few years have been disappointing for the fanbase, but hopefully, we see the team win a championship in the future.

“To the Clippers fans, we carry that burden. We gone get this s**t right at some point”, said George.

There’s no doubt that when healthy, the Los Angeles Clippers are one of the most talented and deep teams in the league. It will be interesting to see what they do this offseason, and perhaps they’ll make further additions to their squad to heighten their chances of winning.
