Shaquille O’Neal is returning to his rapper facet after many years, dropping a new song to celebrate the NBA Playoffs.

Shaq is a man of many talents and when it came to music, he was more known as DJ Diesel. However, now he’s coming back to his roots, dropping a new project where he teams up with another rapper.

“The NBA legend who released four hip-hop albums in the ‘90s will drop a new single called “King Talk” on May 2 in celebration of the NBA Playoffs. It is a collaboration with Ghanaian-American rapper Blackway,” Mesfin Feskadu of The Hollywood Reporter writes

“O’Neal first teased the song on Feb. 7 on his Twitter, Instagram and TikTok in an animation video that celebrated LeBron James passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.”

This is great for the old-school NBA fans and also for the new generations, as for many, Shaq is just the guy that constantly picks on Charles Barkley on Inside the NBA. Now, the Diesel will have the chance to show people that he was and still is legit in the rap game.

Not so long ago, he claimed he was the best rapper in NBA history, and while some said Damian Lillard was the one, Shaq remained confident in himself. Even when N.O.R.E trolled Shaq over his free throws, O’Neal said he was a rapper, not a baller

Shaquille O’Neal Is One Of The Best NBA Rappers Ever

The 4x NBA champion had a pretty solid career as a rapper, even dropping albums that made a lot of noise among the public. His first project, Shaq Diesel, released in 1993, became a platinum-selling album at the time.

His next record, 1994’s Shaq Fu: Da Return, went gold. He had ambitious plans for his rap career, including a track with Notorious B.I.G. before the rapper was killed. He’s now focused on his career as an analyst and also becoming a pretty big name as a DJ, but his time as a rapper will never be forgotten.
