The Milwaukee Bucks finished a disappointing 2022-23 NBA season that appeared to be very favorable for them. However, things didn’t work their way, and the inspired Miami Heat took them out of the playoffs in the first round.
Jae Crowder’s usage was null, too, especially in the past two games of the series. The big man had some things to say about it.
“I’ve never been in a situation like that,” Crowder told Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Eleven years. Check my résumé. I’ve been playing. I’ve always been playing. I’m very confused as to why I was brought here. I don’t know my purpose here and why I was brought here.”
“Yeah, I wasn’t expecting that, DNPs,” he said. “I haven’t had them in my career so why start now?”
Even with the bad situation at the end of the season, Crowder remains confident that he can return to this team because he enjoyed going to war with his teammates.
“I would (return), because in the locker room it’s a great group of guys who puts work first and we have fun after that,” he said. “I can work in that type of environment and I really do appreciate my teammates for welcoming me. From day one it’s just been love from that side. But that’s a conversation that has to be had.”
Besides Crowder, Giannis Antetokounmpo made his feelings known, calling out whoever he could, reflecting on a series that could have been a lot better for the Bucks but their minds and expectations played against them.
The Bucks entered an offseason that could change their future, as it could be the beginning of the end of Giannis’ tenure with the team. Crowder was one of those players who could help them reach the NBA Finals again, but he barely played 18 seconds in the final game of the series.

Ironically, he left the Phoenix Suns and went to the Bucks after agreeing to sit until the Suns found a trade partner for his services. In the beginning, his impact was felt, but in the playoffs, Crowder didn’t get the chance to display his game.
The Bucks could make some big changes this summer, including parting ways with Mike Budenholzer and their second-best player, Khris Middleton. This could be a franchise-altering offseason, but we’ll have to sit and wait for the news about the 2021 NBA champions.
