Anthony Davis Defends LeBron James After Disappointing Loss: “He’s The Greatest To Ever Touch The Court…”

Lakers star LeBron James has done an amazing job carrying his team to this point, but the job is not yet finished for the Purple and Gold. Despite going up 3-1 in the series, the Lakers were unable to close out the Grizzlies in Game 5 and will have to win at least one more time if they want to advance.

On Wednesday, while no one person was to blame for the effort, LeBron James had his worst game of the series with 15 total points on 29.4% shooting from the field and he was so bad that not even he could deny it. Still, after the final buzzer, James was aggressively defended by his friend and co-star Anthony Davis, who didn’t stand for any of the LeBron hate.

“He has the most points scored ever. He’s the greatest to ever touch the court. He’s fine. He’ll be fine. He’ll adjust.”

LeBron has been playing like an MVP for the entire season, and that hasn’t changed since the playoffs began. In fact, by all accounts, he has turned up his play since Game 1. Sadly, at 38, it was only a matter of time before he had a night like tonight when he clearly just wasn’t feeling it from the opening tip.

Fortunately for the Lakers, their strong play so far has given them a bit of a cushion in this series and they’ll have another chance to beat the Grizzlies when they return to Crypto.com arena on Friday. He’ll need to play better if the Lakers want any chance of winning Game 6 or 7.

Can The Lakers Close Out This Series And Prevent A Grizzlies Comeback?

With Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Dillon Brooks, the Grizzlies clearly have enough talent to win the next two games and complete the 3-1 comeback against the Lakers, but it will take a complete and near perfect effort from everyone if they want to send the Lakers home. For their part, the Lakers will have to find better ways to slow down the Grizzlies’ backcourt and get their stars going when it matters the most.

Regardless of how it ends, however, the Lakers have a lot to be proud of this season. After going 2-10 early on and enduring the crazy Russell Westbrook saga, they are in the playoffs with a chance to win it all.
