Joel Embiid had a very entertaining game against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday night. The Philadelphia 76ers’ big man starred in a couple of situations that raised many eyebrows around the league.
Following the Sixers’ big win, Embiid called out the Nets for trying to get him ejected from the match. The player claimed that they hit him a lot to try to get a reaction from him.
“The whole game, you could see what they were doing — just trying to get a rise out of me. Especially after the first one, I just understood I’m too valuable to get into this stuff. … Hitting me in the back, that’s not reviewed. My back, my knee, hitting me every single time, which is fine. It’s working for them but just got to keep going.
“You could see what the game plan was: Got to hit them,” Embiid said, via NBC. “Got to make me frustrated so I could get ejected. I’m too mature to put myself in the position where I’m going to get ejected. So I’m glad I just went about my business and we got the win.”
During the match, he kicked Nic Claxton in the groin, which didn’t sit well with a lot of people. Charles Barkley even said that play was worse than Draymond Green stomping on Domantas Sabonis’ chest.
One fan trolled him for constantly going to the floor, something that happens a lot to Embiid.
Joel Embiid Has More Flagrant Fouls Than Draymond Green In Fewer Games Played
Doc Rivers criticized the decision of giving him a flagrant foul 1 after kicking Claxton, but not everybody agreed on that. Still, Embiid has more flagrant fouls than Draymond Green in way fewer games than the Golden State Warriors star.
This is an incredible stat, but it’s true. Embiid isn’t criticized for this as Draymond, and seeing the numbers, that’s really curious. Nevertheless, the Cameroonian-born player ended up getting the win after he made a huge clutch block that sealed the deal for his team in the final seconds of the game. Philly will try to end this series in Game 4, which looks very likely to happen.
