The NBA 2022-23 playoffs haven’t been without their share of drama, and the latest players in the mix are Joel Embiid and Nic Claxton.

In what was a literal battle of the centers, Embiid kicked Claxton in the groin for staring down at him and stepping over. This action earned the 76ers star a flagrant foul and had the league fans in an uproar, especially after a controversial suspension decision made on Draymond Green a couple of days ago.

Per a Twitter handle, Guru keeps track of news and stats, Embiid has had more flagrant fouls in fewer games when compared to Green. In the 905 games the veteran forward played, he had only 19 flagrant fouls, while Embiid had 21 to his tally in 441 games.

“The @NBA cited Draymond’s “history” as part of the reasoning for his suspension.” the handle said, slamming the league for the disparity.

The same game also saw James Harden ejected for a foul after footage of him reportedly striking Royce O’Neal did the rounds. He was assessed with a Flagrant 2 and tossed from the game.

In the aftermath of the game, Claxton confessed to losing his cool. “I got to keep my emotions in check. My team needs me out there,” he said via USA Today.

“That’s a part of my growth, just keeping my cool in moments like that when I’m playing well & my emotions are really high… I just (have to) be smarter.”

On the game front, the Sixers lead the series 3-0.

Doc Rivers Calls Out The NBA For Calling The Foul On Joel Embiid

Doc Rivers shared his two cents on the whole shebang, saying the move was intentional to get Joel Embiid to act out.

“Okay, it is what it is. That’s what teams do now and then when you respond you get suspended. So we gotta be very careful.”

There’s no doubt that Rivers was referencing Green, who was suspended after his stomping incident with Domantas Sabonis.

Should Embiid indeed be suspended, the Sixers will still feel confident about closing out Game 4 against the Nets, who have a massive task ahead of them.
