The Los Angeles Lakers were left holding the bag after the Memphis Grizzlies came back from a tough Game 1 loss to beat the Lakers tonight in Game 2.
The loss means the Lakers go back to Los Angeles for Game 3 with home-court advantage, something LeBron isn’t taking for granted.
(6:55) “There’s always room to improve. It’s a 1-1 series, both teams are tied and both teams feel they can win on the other’s floor. It gives us no comfort that we’re going home. We shouldn’t be comfortable that we’re going home with a 1-1 tie. Game 3 is the most important game of the series and if we’re not uncomfortable going into that, they can easily come into our hometown and take the series back… On Saturday, it’s back to the four lines and what happens between the four lines. I am so excited to have the opportunity to play another playoff game. I believe this is our first game in our house, in front of the fans, in the postseason. First time. I’m excited for that.”

Given the fact that this will be the first time LeBron James and Anthony Davis play in front of a sold-out home floor in the Lakers, there’ll be a lot of motivation for them to make a statement.
The Lakers missed the playoffs in 2019 with James, played in an audience-less bubble in 2020, played in front of a 41% capacity crowd in 2021 due to COVID restrictions, and missed the playoff again in 2022. Laker nation is going to be electric and LeBron will be under pressure to deliver.
Who’s The Favorite For Game 3?
The Grizzlies pulled out a big win without their star player on the court, so Ja Morant possibly returning in Game 3 could have a massive impact on the series. Tyus Jones is a sensational backup point guard, but this Grizzlies team is just more dangerous when Morant and Jones stagger point guard play between each other.
The Lakers will be playing to protect their home court and will have the motivation to put on a show for their rabid fans. In addition, Dillon Brooks has talked a lot of trash to LeBron after Game 2, so King James has to respond with on-court dominance to prove a point.
It’s going to be a stellar game, but the Lakers should be tipped for the win. Their defense held up tonight as well and they lost because their shots just weren’t falling. Anthony Davis had an outlier night with a terrible offensive game, something he hopes to not repeat in Game 3. If everything clicks, the Lakers are still the more dangerous roster.
