The intensity of the playoffs is completely different than during regular season games. Couple that with playing on the road, and the pressure can be too much for some players.
But the Los Angeles Clippers superstar, Paul George, recently revealed that he prefers to play on the road in the postseason. He also believes it’s the sweetest thing to be a villain for an away crowd.
“Nobody there’s for us,” George said. “You know what I mean? So you’re already going with that mindset of ‘This is all we’ve got. This is what it’s about. This locker room right here.’ So that’s a lot of motivation to go into a game. And then there’s a factor of quiet in the crowd.
“You’re putting on a show and I have my best moments playing on the road because that’s how I looked at it. They’re there to get me out of my game. They’re trying everything in the book. They’re calling me names, you know, ‘PG you suck’ hearing ‘Pandemic P’ in Phoenix and Utah. ‘Pushoff P’ in Utah, you feed off that. You love being the villain at that point. It’s the sweetest thing to be the villain, I feed off that.”

Paul George unveiled that he feeds off the opposing team’s crowd during road games. PG13 has had many great moments in the postseason, many of which came when he was playing on the road. Hopefully, George will be able to add more to that tally in the 2023 NBA playoffs.
Paul George Likely To Miss The First-Round Series vs. The Phoenix Suns
The Los Angeles Clippers managed to win Game 1 of the opening-round series against the Phoenix Suns behind amazing performances from Kawhi Leonard and Russell Westbrook.
While the Clippers have taken a 1-0 lead in the series, they are still missing the presence of Paul George on the court. Unfortunately, the Clippers will most likely not see George on the roster for the entire series vs. the Suns.
According to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, George is still healing from a sprained right knee, the injury he suffered on March 21, 2023.
“All-Star forward Paul George is likely to miss the LA Clippers’ entire opening-round Western Conference playoff series against the Phoenix Suns because of his sprained right knee, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday. George has been progressing on the rehabilitation from the injury he suffered on March 21, but the Clippers are preparing to be without him for the series, which begins Sunday in Phoenix, sources said.”
Considering the Suns have a Big 4 of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton, the Clippers could have used George’s sensational two-way ability throughout the series.
Will George’s absence prove to be the reason behind the Clippers’ getting eliminated in the first round? Or will they power through the entire series like Game 1? We will find out in a matter of a few days.
