The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Phoenix Suns in their recent playoff matchup behind Kawhi Leonard’s 38-point performance. However, coach Tyronn Lue deserves a lot of credit for this as well, as he managed to come up with a game plan that got the team a crucial win on the road.

When NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith reacted to the game, he gave Ty Lue his flowers, claiming that he is the best coach in the league. There is no doubt that this is well-earned praise. (9:07)

“Ty Lue might be the best coach in all of basketball. Ty Lue is big time.”

It is clear that the Phoenix Suns are the far superior team to the Los Angeles Clippers from a talent standpoint when we consider that Paul George won’t return until the second round. The fact that Ty Lue managed to lead the Clippers to a road win against such an elite team speaks volumes about his abilities as a coach.

Of course, the job is not finished for the Los Angeles Clippers. They will have to get four wins to come out of the series and move on to the second round. However, it is fair to say that this has been a good start to the series for them, and hopefully, they will continue to play well.

The Los Angeles Clippers finished as the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference at the end of the regular season, making the playoffs outright with a 44-38 record and avoiding the play-in tournament. Ty Lue managed to make this happen despite both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George missing time, and we’ll see if he has more tricks up his sleeve for their series against the Suns.

Ty Lue Knows How To Motivate Players Well

Russell Westbrook did not have a good shooting night against the Phoenix Suns, but his defense, passing, and rebounding helped the team win. Tyronn Lue motivated the point guard during the game, however, telling him that what he brings to the team is more than just scoring.

“You bring us way more than scoring the basketball,” Lue said to the point guard while he was struggling to make baskets.

It is true that Russell Westbrook impacts a lot of areas of the game when he is locked in. It is good to see that Ty Lue knew how to show support to the point guard and help him stay focused on winning rather than his shots not going in.

There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook will need to be better in the scoring department if the Clippers are to upset the Suns, as the Clippers desperately need his offensive output. However, the main thing is for him to simply continue having a positive impact, and we’ll see how he does going forward.
