It wasn’t just LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers who were in awe of Austin Reaves’ scintillating Game 1-winning efforts against the Memphis Grizzlies.
James’ son, Bryce took to Instagram to show that he agreed with Reaves’ epic “I’m him” celebration after his fourth quarter. Bryce took to a screenshot of the young guard’s celebration and captioned his story ‘Him.’

Reaves showed up in a game that would set the tone for the Lakers, who made the NBA 2022-23 playoffs on the back of an impressive second half of the regular season.
He blitzed 23 points on an 8-of-13 shooting, and it all came to a head when he had an emotional burst asserting, “I’m Him.” Reaves will be challenged to back his statement with every game that the Lakers play going forward, but there’s no doubt that he’s found a fan in Bryce.
LeBron James Reacts To Austin Reaves’ Game-Winning Performance
While James did well with his 21 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists in the Lakers’ 128-112 win, he was even more impressed with Reaves’ outburst.
“I knew from the first practice that he wasn’t going to be two-way for long …” James said in the aftermath of the win. “I’ve been around the game long enough to know great basketball IQ players, and I know the type of players that fit with my game, and I knew Austin would be that right away.”
Reaves poses a happy headache for the Lakers’ front office. With the guard entering free agency this summer, they will look to offer him a lucrative contract — one that their competitors cannot match or surpass. Or at least that’s the hope considering his contributions to the side.
It will be a heartwarming moment for Reaves if his dream of staying a Laker comes true, and the Lakers will know what he brings to the team. Maybe, they will figure out a way to ensure Reaves stays with the purple and gold for a long time.
