When it comes to the Lakers, everything revolves around LeBron James and Anthony Davis. But after February’s trade deadline brought new players to the roster, the Lakers can now rely on others to help them win games.

On Sunday, in Game 1 against the Grizzlies, it was Austin Reaves who exploded in the second half and helped the Lakers pull away. He finished with 23 points on the night, including a self-made 9-0 run that he responded to in the post-game media chat.

“I probably know over 100 people here. Family, friends, so you know just to be able to play in front of them for this organization on the biggest stage is special.”

Reaves was one of the biggest heroes of the game and there is no doubt he’ll be a major factor going forward in this series and beyond if the Lakers end up moving on to the next round.

Reaves Wants To Be A Laker For Life

Austin Reaves is obviously not L.A.’s most important player, but the spark he brings offensively has been huge for this team and he has more than proven his worth over his stint with the Lakers.

As a restricted free agent this offseason, there are no guarantees that Reaves will be back, but we know that he prefers to stay a Laker forever.

“I wanna be a Laker. Obviously, they gave me my first opportunity,” said Reaves. “I was a huge Laker fan growing up, a big Kobe fan, so honestly, just to be able to play for the Lakers organization is special, and I wanna be a Laker, so hopefully, we can get this done, and I can stay there for hopefully my whole career.”

As great as this victory was for the morale and confidence of the team, it was just one win and the Lakers still need three more if they want to advance in the postseason.

Either way, no matter who comes out on top, Reaves deserves a lot of credit for his role in this miraculous run and the Lakers must do whatever they can to keep him on the roster this summer.
