Mark Cuban Reveals He Asked The NBA To Change Charge/Block Rules

The first round of the NBA 2022-23 playoffs saw multiple players go down with injuries, and Dallas Mavericks owners had a suggestion to the NBA.

Responding to a Sports Illustrated report, Cuban took to Twitter to propose a change that would bring down the scale of injuries in the league.

“Move the circle further away from the basket,” Cuban said. “Taking it an extra foot away from the hoop would reduce taking charges on drives dramatically. I’ve asked. Obviously, nothing has changed,” wrote Cuban on Twitter.

While the suggestion surely does come off as an interesting one, the Mavericks head honcho also added that he made the suggestion previously, but it fell on deaf ears.

One of the examples was Ja Morant, who injured his hand after his collision with Anthony Davis, who attempted to take a charge. The guard plowed his way to the rim and fell heavily on his hand. He was subsequently removed from the game.

With physicality still prevalent in the league, Cuban’s proposal might help. But with the league reportedly not responding to him, there’s no telling what’s in store.

Mark Cuban Pulled Off An Epic Move After The NBA Slapped The Mavericks With a Fine For Tanking

The Dallas Mavericks stunned the NBA circuit by pulling off their superstars on the final night of the season, and the league wasn’t happy. As a result, the team was slapped with a $750,000 fine, and Cuban decided to pull off a move that would be talked about for ages.

Not only did he match the money, but also doubled it, and donated it all to charity, which is what the NBA typically does with fines collected.

The Mavericks had a sordid season despite trading for Kyrie Irving ahead of the trade deadline, and Cuban has maintained that re-signing the guard was a top priority. The unit will also need to retool its roster to give the likes of Irving and Luka Doncic the right pieces to contend for a title.

He may have some work to do in the summer, but Cuban isn’t going to let a fine pass without making his point clear.
