The Los Angeles Lakers entered this year’s playoffs feeling confident about their potential to make a run. Early in the first game against the Grizzlies on Sunday, it looked like the Lakers could really pull off something special… until Anthony Davis suffered an injury in the first half.
With just over a minute to go in the second quarter, Davis was seen holding his left arm while admitting that he was unable to feel it.

With so little information at hand right now, we don’t yet know how serious the injury is or what it means for AD’s availability in the series. Still, it’s a brutal blow for the Lakers and their fans, who couldn’t help but lament the whole situation on social media.
AD said he can't move his arm and my heart can't take it.

All Lakers fans can do now is sit by, wait for an update, and hope for the best. But as one fan noted, playoff injury scares have been a common theme for Davis since he joined the Lakers.

The good news for L.A. is that AD did come back into the game, and he will also be available for Game 2, but it remains to be seen if he can retain his effectiveness if he has to play with some discomfort.

Thankfully, the Lakers seemed to have avoided any serious injuries, but the fragility of Davis still puts a potential championship run in jeopardy this season.
Why NBA Experts Don’t Trust The Lakers
While it’s true that the Lakers are much improved since February’s trade deadline, the team still relies heavily on the play of LeBron and Anthony Davis, and that formula may be outdated.
As Colin Cowherd explained on his show, James is past his prime, and AD cannot be trusted to stay on the floor.
“Can they beat a good team like Memphis four times? I think they can in the first playoff series, but I don’t think they can extend it to a second playoff series or a third,” said Colin. “I just think you’re asking too much of an old guy and an often hurt guy in Anthony Davis.”
Well, that take seems to have been validated in the very first playoff game, as it’s clear that the health of AD is going to remain a huge question mark for the Lakers all throughout these playoffs.
