When it comes to the NBA playoffs, LeBron James employs every tactic in the book to get the best of his opponent. So during game 1 against the Memphis Grizzlies, when head coach Taylor Jenkins pulled Dillon Brooks aside for a courtside chat, James saw an opportunity to get some valuable intel.

The clip, which has gone viral online, features James listening in on the convo, although we don’t know if he heard what was said.

This isn’t the first time that LeBron has pulled this off, and it certainly won’t be the last. As a true student of the game and a winner at heart, LeBron knows more than anyone that getting a glimpse into the opponent’s game plan can provide a pretty significant edge in the series.

And with the Lakers at 7th in the West, and relying on a 38-year-old star to carry them, they need all the help they can possibly get.

Can LeBron Still Lead The Lakers To A Title?

James gave practically everything he had to get the Lakers into the playoffs, but now that they’re here the work has only just begun. No matter how the first few games play out, this is likely to be a long series against the Grizzlies that could go either way.

For LeBron, he might find it harder to break down the defense like he used to.

“I think he at the age now where you know we used to put scouting reports in for Bron when we was playing,” said Stephen Jackson. “That s**t, he was just good enough and that strong and energetic where it didn’t work. I think now he’s at the age where he slowed down, so the scouting reports are starting to work on him. Sending him in certain ways and putting him in certain positions. He doesn’t have the energy to do it the whole game…”

Father Time comes for everyone, and we can already see LeBron declining as the years go by.

For now, though, neither LeBron nor the Lakers are worried about such things. Their only goal is to win one game at a time and make a run to the depths of the NBA postseason.
