With the 2022-23 NBA campaign over, it’s time for end-season awards predictions. NBA analyst JJ Redick recently released his predictions for the All-NBA teams this season.
During the process, Redick talked about Stephen Curry and Damian Lillard’s 2022-23 NBA seasons, respectively. Even though Redick placed them in the third-team All-NBA, he believes the two superstars are the two best guards in the league.
“I can’t deny what Steph Curry and Damian Lillard did this year,” Redick said. “Two of the best seasons for a guard, potentially, ever. I mean, seriously. Those guys were un-f***ing-believable this season. So, I had them for the third-team guards.
“I think, for both these guys, if Dame doesn’t get shut down, he’s not on my third team. If Steph doesn’t get injured, he’s on my first team. That’s how good they were. To me, when they were on the court – and this is not a knock on Shai or Luka or Donovan Mitchell – to me, these guys were the two best guards in the NBA this year. They just didn’t play enough games.”

Redick’s explanation for putting Curry and Lillard on the third-team All-NBA was that the two superstars simply didn’t play enough games this season. Had they played more games, they would have easily climbed to either the first team or the second team for the season.
Curry averaged 29.1 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 6.3 APG while shooting 49.3% from the field and 42.7% from deep. On the other hand, Lillard finished the season with 32.2 PPG, 4.8 RPG, and 7.3 APG while being 46.3% from the field and 37.1% from downtown.
Damian Lillard Believes He Is The Second Best Three-Point Shooter Behind Stephen Curry
For a point guard to be successful in the modern-day NBA, he needs to be an elite three-point shooter. Stephen Curry is widely regarded as the greatest three-point shooter in NBA history, so he is already safe in that department.
According to Damian Lillard, after Curry, his name should be taken as the second-best three-point shooter in the history of the league.
“After Steph…we all know who and what Steph is as a shooter, definitely. But after that, I’m right in the mix with whoever else comes after that.”
Throughout his career, Dame has made a name for himself as a lethal shooter from deep. He is undoubtedly one of the best ever to master the skill of shooting from beyond the three-point line.
However, whether he ranks right behind Curry on the list of the greatest three-point shooters of all time is up for debate.
