There are 30 teams in the NBA right now, but not every team in the league has a great owner. The Dallas Mavericks have certainly been very lucky in that department, as Mark Cuban is one of the best owners in the NBA.
Mark Cuban has some very unorthodox ways to ensure his players’ morale is high and they do not feel the need to leave the franchise. Former NBA superstars Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce discussed how Cuban revolutionized NBA locker rooms in an episode of the ‘KG Certified: Ticket & Truth’ podcast.
“Mark Cuban is the king of, ‘Come on in here, let me host you,'” Garnett said. “He’s the king of hosting. They got Dennis Rodman to come play for the f*****g Mavericks when they weren’t s**t. … He invented the f*****g locker rooms to what we know them to be.”
Paul Pierce added: “He was the first one [to introduce] that had food, PlayStations.”
But that wasn’t the end of it, Kevin Garnett further shared how Cuban changed the entire atmosphere in the locker rooms.
“He was the first owner to do cracking s**t. All these other owners were old and were still doing old s**t. They had two stalls. Man, Mark Cuban came in, and here are 15 stalls; that s**t was singing like he was a virgin or something. That s**t had LEDs in there.”

Garnett couldn’t hold in his excitement when talking about how great of a job Cuban did with revolutionizing the NBA locker rooms.
Sure, Cuban deserves his flowers for being the king of hosting among the NBA owners, but Mavericks fans will still prefer winning multiple titles over it any day of the week.
Mark Cuban’s Experiment With Luka Doncic And Kyrie Irving May Fail
For several months, the Mavericks fanbase kept berating Mark Cuban for not getting Luka Doncic, another superstar on the team. Cuban finally fulfilled that wish when the Mavericks traded for Kyrie Irving around the NBA trade deadline.
Unfortunately, it feels like Cuban’s gamble has blown up in his face. The Mavericks currently have a 37-39 record and are the 11th seed in the Western Conference.
With just six games left to be played this season, things could get ugly for the Mavs if they fail to advance to the playoffs. That could lead to Luka Doncic demanding a trade in the offseason. And if Luka leaves, there is no surety that Kyrie will re-sign with the franchise either.
