Kyrie Irving has come under fire an awful lot over the last few years due to some of his antics, but he certainly does have a good side to him as well.
When an unfortunate accident in North Texas caused the death of Vaani Yadlapati and left Sharath Yedavelli with serious injuries, Irving donated $38,000 to their families.
“I was suddenly shocked (and) surprised. I was seeing the name Kyrie Irving and he donated $38,000, immediately I Googled his name,” said Chandrashekhar Reddy Yedavelli, Sharath’s brother.
“Everyone has the money but no one has the heart to donate it… A big thanks for helping us and our family,” he added.
The two individuals were on student visas and had little to no insurance to pay for medical bills and a funeral. The families had put out a request for money on GoFundMe, where Kyrie seems to have noticed the predicament they were in and decided to help out.
The two families are from Hyderabad in India, and they were unaware of who Kyrie was, but he now has now earned their love and affection forever. Irving rightfully gets criticized for some of his antics, but when he does something so good, he deserves all the praise in the world.
Kyrie Irving Donated $45,000 To Children In Ghana And Nigeria
This isn’t the first time that Irving has been in the news this year for making a sizable donation. He donated $45,000 to provide essential care to children in Ghana and Nigeria. His contribution will help them build a water tank for a school in Nigeria and ensures that all 351 children will have shoes, uniforms, books, and backpacks.
His donation also helps them build the entire orphanage as well as a sports center for the children. Irving explained that he likes to do little acts of kindness every day when asked about the donation. The kids sent a beautiful message to thank him, and it is great that Kyrie is going to have such a positive impact on their lives.
