Ben Simmons has essentially disappeared from discussions about the league’s best players in the last couple of seasons. There was some hope that he might revive his career in Brooklyn with the Nets, but he has barely played for the team in a year. And a recent stat involving new acquisition Mikal Bridges shows just how far Simmons has fallen.

“Mikal Bridges has scored 348 points this month. Ben Simmons has scored 291 points as a Net,” wrote StatMuse on Twitter.

This is a 57-point differential, which is insane considering that Simmons has been with the Brooklyn Nets since the trade deadline in 2022. In fairness, his back issue kept him out for all of last season. He has also only played 42 games this season thanks to the same problems being reported with injuries. But even considering that, to have such few points that Bridges has surpassed him in just his last 15 games is quite ridiculous.

Ben Simmons had issues with scoring even when he was in Philadelphia, but the thought was that a new environment might unlock him once again. Instead, he lost the faith of the team’s other superstars, who have since left, and it doesn’t look like the organization has much belief in him either. Stats like this further show how done the former All-Star might be in terms of his career, and fans aren’t being kind about it.

NBA Fans Reacted To The Wild Ben Simmons Statistic

Ben Simmons was never prolific, but at his best, he was averaging over 16 points per game. He has averaged under 7 points per game for the Nets, though. And there seems to be little drive to improve at the moment, with fans having given up on him entirely.

One fan wrote: “Ben Simmons is a bench player at best now. People need to accept that new reality.”

Another said: “This is WILD… don’t understand why they’re still holding on to the hood of him snapping out of it. Let me go!”

Some think he might not even last much longer in the NBA: “Ben Simmons is going to end up at Panathinaikos or Cadiz Basketball.”

And while most were talking about Ben Simmons, one fan chose to focus on the positives: “This rightfully crushes BS, but I feel Bridges has such potential and it’s going to be crushing for the Suns not to have him. So yeah… Not surprised he’s already making this impact with the Nets.”

The Brooklyn Nets are in an odd place where they have quite a bit of draft capital, but the man who was supposed to be an asset has become a liability. The emergence of Mikal Bridges is promising, though, and there are many options available for the team moving forward.
