Anthony Davis is currently having a great moment with the Los Angeles Lakers, but his recent run isn’t enough to earn Shaquille O’Neal’s full trust.

The legendary center recently criticized Davis for his level, and even now that Davis is showing great things, Shaq wants to see more from the younger big man.

“See, he’s still top-10, he’s still a great player,” Shaq said. “But I’m talking status-wise. I remember when we were saying, ‘yo, he’s the best player in the league.’ No excuses in this league. Don’t matter why you fell off. You still fell off. Everything’s up to AD. Even when LeBron’s back, it’s all up to AD.”

Just like Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers are having a sweet moment right now, winning games consistently, climbing positions on the Western Conference standings, and very close to hitting the .500 mark for the first time this season.

This would be huge for the Lakers, especially knowing that they are going against rivals without LeBron James, who remains sidelined due to an injury. Davis has shown up for his team and is trying to help them fight for a top-5 finish this season, but that looks a little complicated right now.

Shaquille O’Neal Admits He Shaded Anthony Davis To ‘Motivate’ Him

Meanwhile, Shaquille O’Neal keeps expressing his opinions on AD and the things happening within the organization. He recently went off on the Brow, later revealing that he criticized the 2020 NBA champion just to motivate him

Shaq has used this strategy before with other players, and it seems like he’s not changing it anytime soon. O’Neal can be difficult sometimes with his way of motivating current stars, but he does it all from love and not to diminish them.

More often than not, this will rub people the wrong way, but there’s only one thing they can do to change Shaq’s mind.
