Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant is a top-tier superstar in the NBA, and there’s no questioning his elite talent. However, he has recently received a lot of negative media attention due to his recent incident where he brandished a gun at a strip club on Instagram Live.

Though many have criticized Ja Morant for brandishing the gun, it seems as though other aspects of his conduct at the strip club were more positive. When speaking to Matthew Sedacca of The New York Post, “Shotgun Willie’s” owner Deborah Dunafon praised Ja Morant for being “exceptionally respectful” to the employees.

“This kid, real young, was exceptionally respectful, and sweet and he did not drink [on his second visit],” Dunafon said. “We’ve had [Denver] Nuggets and Broncos … come in and pitch quarters at the girls, be disrespectful and nasty. He’s marvelous.”

It is good to see that Ja Morant treated the people at the establishment with respect, and it is clear that he left an impression on the owner. The gun situation is obviously serious, and that is

Ja Morant has averaged 27.1 PPG, 6.0 RPG, and 8.2 APG for the Memphis Grizzlies prior to this incident, and it is clear that he was playing at a high level. Hopefully, we see him come back to the team sooner rather than later.

Ja Morant Spent More Than $50K At The Strip Club

Prior to the gun incident, it seems as though Ja Morant was trying to have a fantastic time at the strip club. A previous report revealed that Ja Morant spent more than $50K during the two nights where he was at the strip club.

“The whole room is full of money — it’s literally a pile. You’d need a rake,” according to one club insider who saw the events of the evening.

There is no doubt that businesses as a whole usually appreciate generous patrons, and Ja Morant was clearly in a generous mood that evening. However, his gun clearly made some people uncomfortable, and the women at the strip club were “absolutely terrified” of it. That was definitely the more irresponsible part of his visit to the strip club, and hopefully, he can learn from the situation.

It remains to be seen how much more time Ja Morant will end up missing. The team will likely want him for the playoffs, but given the nature of the situation, things may not end up being that easy.
