NBA Fans Agree With Kyrie Irving’s Thoughts On Gambling And Sports Betting

I don’t care if people want to gamble but I hate that it’s become a part of sports shows, nobody cares," a fan echoed Kyrie Irving's sentiments.

Kyrie Irving’s thoughts on gambling and sports betting tarnishing the beauty of the game were well-received by NBA fans.

“Gambling and sports betting have completely taken the purity and the fun away from the game at times,” Irving had said earlier. “I’m gonna just be honest with y’all… There’s a difference between being a diehard fan & supporting your team & loving your team vs. somebody that’s betting on a parlay or somebody that wants to hit… God dang, like this whole community of gamblers that’s coming to the game of basketball.”

This had fans discuss the topic on Reddit and share their opinions as well.

Please note that some of the comments have been edited for purpose of clarity.

“Gambling now lets people bet on every little part of a performance each night so fans can cry. There’s a conspiracy because someone missed a layup they feel should have been easily made,” a fan opined.

“My issue with gambling is that I think far too many people are financially illiterate and do not have the capacity to actually bet “smart” and they’ll just throw life savings into a “for sure parlay” or whatever,” another wrote.

One fan even looped in NHL in the chatter: “The NHL basically shoved it down our throats during last year’s playoffs. I swear every second commercial was gambling related plus a gambling segment during each intermission. It was brutal and continues to be so.”

“I don’t care if people want to gamble but I hate that it’s become a part of sports shows, nobody cares,” a fan exclaimed. “I hate it mostly because it casts (reasonable) doubt on the integrity of the sport,” another fan said.

Irving’s take surely has earned him new fans. It’s been that kind of a season for him where he’s taken bouquets and brickbats in equal measure, and his thoughts on betting just see fans look at him with newfound respect.

Kyrie Irving’s Future With The Dallas Mavericks Is Still Uncertain

Kyrie Irving’s future has been a constant topic of discussion. All eyes are on the point guard as the summer nears. While he’s a part of the Dallas Mavericks now, there’s no guarantee that he will be part of the franchise, if they don’t offer the max contract he’s looking for.

He’s not short of suitors and if the Los Angeles Lakers give him what he wants, chances are the NBA world will witness another LeBron James-Irving reunion and also make LA one of the more formidable superteams with Anthony Davis in the mix.

For now, he appears on getting his fit alongside Luka Doncic right and looking at adding another title to his name. It remains to be seen if he can indeed have the spoils at the end of it all.
