Nikola Jokic suffered a nasty cut in the Denver Nuggets’ clash against the Memphis Grizzlies, leaving fans shocked and angry.

The two-time MVP’s gash was visible on TV as he made his feelings known to the officials midway through the first quarter.

While cuts are a part of the game, Jokic’s injury looked pretty ugly. Fans weren’t happy seeing the blood-red gash and took to Twitter to share their two cents. One of them urged the players to trim their nails.

A fan believed this was the story with Stephen Curry every week.

Another believed that the player responsible deserved to be punished: “Whoever did that should be suspended multiple games. That’s not a basketball play.”

One of the tweets was a little on the funny side as a fan asked if he was playing against the Bears. Ironic, that the team is named the Grizzlies.

There was a remedy coming in too: “He needs to start wearing elbow pads and sleeves since he gets scratched up so much.”

Jokic ended the game with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 3 assists as the Nuggets were blown out 112-94 by the Grizzlies. The loss though does little to impact the standings in the West as Denver still stays atop the table with a 42-19 record.

NBA Media Members Favor Nikola Jokic To Win His Third MVP

The Denver Nuggets are prime contenders to make the NBA finals and have been led admirably by Jokic. Cuts and bruises aside, the Serbian has been in rich form averaging 24.5 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 10.0 assists this season.

His performances coupled with the team’s consistent run have the league’s media members backing him to win his third MVP. A recent poll by ESPN to understand the media’s thoughts on the 2022-23 season MVP had Jokic placed right on top with 913 total points and 77 first-position votes.

Should he be indeed crowned MVP this season, he would make history as the first player to win consecutive MVPs for the first time since 1986. Given his run at the moment, there’s every chance he may actually end up making it three in three.
