The All-Star Break ends on Thursday and the business end of the season begins. The remainder of the 2022-23 season promises to be a relentless fight between some top teams, including the ones that have retooled like the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Lakers. A lot of teams will think they have a chance at making serious noise in the playoffs, but some could still use a couple of additions to their rosters.
The trade deadline was incredibly exciting, with some big superstars changing teams, like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Following the deadline, a few players have also been bought out. Russell Westbrook joined the Los Angeles Clippers, while Kevin Love joined the Miami Heat, among others. But there is still quality to be found among those that remain free agents. Adrian Wojnarowski recently shared a list of 11 free agents who are still available.
With approximately one-third of NBA teams still with an available roster spot, free agents include: Serge Ibaka, John Wall, LaMarcus Aldridge, Will Barton, Stanley Johnson, Wayne Ellington, Tyler Johnson, Sterling Brown, Hassan Whiteside, David Nwabe, Michael Carter-Williams.

11 Available Free Agents:
Serge Ibaka
John Wall
LaMarcus Aldridge
Will Barton
Stanley Johnson
Wayne Ellington
Tyler Johnson
Sterling Brown
Hassan Whiteside
David Nwaba
Michael Carter-Williams
While all of these players may not find NBA teams, a lot of them can certainly help. Serge Ibaka would be good for any team looking for championship know-how, John Wall still has gas left in the tank, and Will Barton is still a 38% shooter from three-point range. With many teams competing to get into the playoffs and give it a proper go, these could all be good options to fill out their rosters. And there are also other free agents, including a prominent one Kevin Durant recently mentioned.
Kevin Durant Says Carmelo Anthony Can Still Play In The NBA
Carmelo Anthony has spent the last few years of his career as a role player, and the 38-year-old hasn’t retired yet. He was last on the Los Angeles Lakers but has been unable to find another team since. And Melo recently got support from a superstar in Kevin Durant, who praised his talent, even at this late juncture in his career.
“I think he has the talent to play in our league.”
Teams already have their main players decided following the trade deadline, and free agents at this point don’t move the needle in terms of championship aspirations. But the right veteran can be an invaluable presence on the bench, and even provide production when teams least expect it. At least some of these free agents should surely find a role on contending teams before the playoffs arrive.
