Patrick Beverley wasn’t on the free agent market for too long, as the Chicago Bulls snapped him up on Monday night. The Orlando Magic had waived the veteran guard earlier this month and he now gets to head back home to Chicago.

Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Bulls are signing him with the hope that he brings some ferocity to the court and to the locker room. They definitely could use some of that and he might just give them the spark they need to make a playoff push.

Beverley revealed not long after the news broke that his choice of team ultimately came down to the Bulls and the Golden State Warriors. While he had expressed a desire to join the Warriors last week, he explained why he ultimately decided to reject them.

“It was between Golden State and the Bulls. Obviously it’s always good to play with a lot of great talent in Golden State but a lot of guards over there. I figured I can make a playoff push with the Bulls. Pump them up a little bit, the East’s kinda weak. I’m excited man.”

The Warriors could have been interested in him because Gary Payton II is going to be on the sidelines for a while and Beverley would have slotted into that role. They still have a lot of options at the guard spots though, which is why going to Chicago might well have been the smarter choice for him.

Zach LaVine Said The Bulls Aren’t Giving Up On The Season

The Bulls entered last season’s All-Star break with the best record in the Eastern Conference and things have changed so much in a year. They entered this break as the 11th seed with a 26-33 record and there have been growing calls for them to blow it up.

They decided against it and will be trying to get their act together in this final stretch of the season. Zach LaVine made it clear that the Bulls aren’t throwing in the towel and perhaps Beverley can help lift this team to an extent with his relentlessness.
