NBA insider Zach Lowe believes the LA Clippers are sabotaging their own team after the team’s players are lobbying for Russell Westbrook.
The former Los Angeles Lakers point guard was traded to the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team trade and has since been involved in conversations with multiple franchises as he is expected to be bought out. The Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat are also looked at as potential landing spots for Westbrook along with the Clippers.
The 34-year-old also has a firm believer and a friend in Paul George, who oozed confidence when talking about Westbrook while also claiming the latter was a good fit with the side.
“If there’s somebody out there, Russell. You know, if it makes sense and obviously it goes with our team, we’re all for it. We’re all for having a point guard. But you know, in saying that, I think we’re good as well if nothing happens. I think we’ve got enough in this locker room to make it work. But it would definitely improve our team… Make the game easy. Hopefully Russell sees this, and we figure something out.”
However, Lowe isn’t too keen to see Westbrook joining the Clippers as he is of the opinion that the guard isn’t a great addition to a team that’s looked at as one of the playoff favorites.

There was no doubt that Lowe wasn’t a huge supporter of Russell Westbrook joining the Clippers, and he made that clear on the Lowe Post Podcast.
Speaking about the topic to Chris Herring, he said he found it funny that the Clippers players were lobbying to add Westbrook to their ranks.

“One of the more hilarious subplots of the last part of the season is the Clippers players going on an all-out lobbying campaign for them to sign Russ…maybe not understanding that they might be sabotaging their own team. I don’t think their front office wants anything to do with it either, so that’s kinda fun!”
Westbrook averaged 15.9 points and 7.5 assists a game with LA after coming off the bench, but he does have some glaring flaws that will need addressing.
Only time will tell if he indeed looks at George and the Clippers as an option. At the time of writing, he is currently looking at using the All-Star break as a time to recalibrate and weigh his options. Will there be a second LA run in the offing? Only time will tell.
