After tumultuous hours following his shocking trade request, Kyrie Irving has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks, ending this mini-saga that kept every NBA fan speculating about the future of the 2016 NBA champion.

Things looked great between him and the Brooklyn Nets, but Kyrie had different plans. He requested a trade before the upcoming deadline or would leave for nothing, and the Nets knew they needed to do something. Shortly after the reports came out, several teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and Phoenix Suns were mentioned among the potential suitors.

However, it was the Texans team who acquired Irving’s services in a trade that sends Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round and multiple second-round picks to Brooklyn. Alongside Kyrie, the Nets are sending Markieff Morris to Dallas.

This is great for the Mavs, who will improve their level with Kyrie. The talented point guard was showing a great level before this all happened, and the Western Conference team hope to see the same from him in this new chapter.

Brooklyn Nets Have Traded Kyrie Irving To Dallas Mavericks

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Irving is now headed to Dallas. This was unexpected for many NBA fans who didn’t think it would be a long time before we saw the guard changing his teams, but the favorites to acquire his services were in Los Angeles.

The Mavericks are sending a 2029 unprotected first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick and a 2029 second round-pick to the Nets, sources @TheAthletic @Stadium. Brooklyn also is sending Markieff Morris to Dallas. https://t.co/EtqlQqQuGq

The Nets are now focused on picking the pieces this trade leaves and seeing what else they can get in the market to keep building around Kevin Durant. It was reported that KD was shocked by the trade request, and now he’s seeing Kyrie leave just like that.

This became the biggest drama of this trade deadline, but it’s finally over. Kyrie joining the Mavericks could be good, but it could also be a disaster if things don’t go well for the team. Time will tell if he made the right decision, but right now, he’s set to start a new chapter in his career to try to win a second NBA championship. Things were incredibly quiet around the league, and Kyrie really stirred the pot with this decision.
