Former Los Angeles Lakers star Dwight Howard may not be playing in the NBA this season, but the veteran has been fairly active and has added daredevilry as part of his CV and adding for good measure that even a natural element in the fire can’t melt him.

The former NBA champion was part of FOX’s ‘Special Forces’, a reality adventure show that sees celebrities try and survive grueling training exercises led by ex-special forces. Safe to say, Howard’s experience on the show was a memorable and remarkable one.

Taking to Instagram, he posted an image of himself on fire, with a badass caption in addition to adding a series of images performing dangerous stunts on the show. He added the same image on Twitter asking his fans what they would do if they were on fire.

Howard’s always looked fitter, even when he was awaiting an offer from one of the teams in the league. He eventually signed with the Taoyuan Leopards of the T1 League in Taiwan and had some scintillating basketball action in the process.

It wasn’t just the physical demands that the 37-year-old had to cope with. Howard and the rest of the cast were asked to write a death letter to their family and friends — something that put him in a place he never was.

Speaking to People, Howard was candid when he revealed how he felt when he took to write the letter.

“To write a death letter to your kids and to your family and friends, that takes a lot out of you. Moments like that really show you what type of person you are.”

He also added that he was “beyond grateful” to be part of the show as it served as an eye-opener.

For now, speculations are rife that the eight-time All-Star might not make the NBA again, and while he’s dabbled with a few projects in the meantime, including a WWE stint, chances are he still may see some role in the league in the days to come.
