The New York Knicks are a team that has surprised many by being competitive in a tough Eastern Conference this year. Under the leadership of Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson, the team has a 27-24 record and is within striking distance of becoming a top 6 seed.

As of right now, the New York Knicks are clearly trying to be active on the trade market. They have already been linked with players such as OG Anunoby but have some ability to make a smaller move on the margins as well. A recent report from Ian Begley of SNY revealed that the Knciks are interested in acquiring Detroit Pistons wing player Saddiq Bey. (5:06)

“In general, a name that has been talked about recently is Saddiq Bey in Detroit. The Knicks are among the teams that have registered some interest in Saddiq. I don’t know how far discussions have gotten, but Bey, obviously a Villanova guy, wing, could help the Knicks from a depth perspective.”

Acquiring Saddiq Bey could definitely help the New York Knicks with their depth issues, and 3 and D forwards are a welcome addition for almost any squad. As of right now, Saddiq Bey is putting up 14.6 PPG, 4.3 RPG, and 1.5 APG while shooting 34.3% from the 3PT range.

The Miami Heat Are Also Interested In Acquiring Saddiq Bey

Saddiq Bey is a young player with upside, and the New York Knicks likely would have some competition when trying to acquire him. A previous report suggested that the Miami Heat are also interested in the Pistons forward.

Have heard for a few weeks now that there is some interest from Miami… Saddiq feels like the exact type of player the Heat should be targeting. The Heat & Pistons have had conversations about a few players over the last year so it’s not difficult to imagine that there would be some rapport there already.

The Miami Heat could use a young player that can contribute immediately but still has some upside. Saddiq Bey fits that description, and the Heat would be a perfect place for him to develop and improve as a player. From the Heat’s perspective, they’d be getting another shooter that can be a long-term fit with the team.

This year’s trade deadline is bound to be exciting, as a lot of teams are looking to improve their rosters. Both the Knicks and the Heat are teams to watch, and we’ll see what each team does ahead of the deadline.
