Matt Barnes has been under the spotlight since earlier this week, as the former NBA player was involved in an unfortunate altercation during the most recent San Francisco 49ers game at Levi’s Stadium.

The former Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors player has an interesting take on violence, saying that it’s never the answer, but recently, he forgot about it and went in went he ran into his fianceé’s ex-husband. As Barnes walked out of the stadium, he ran into this person and spat on his face.

This was recorded and the video made the rounds around the NBA community, with many fans reacting to it. Barnes previously starred in similar situations, but many assumed that he had put that behind him and moved on. However, things weren’t like that last Sunday.

Matt Barnes Is Reportedly Facing Big Consequences After Spitting In A Man’s Face

Shortly after the incident went viral, Barnes is reportedly being sued by David Patterson Jr., the man who received the spit. According to TMZ Sports, the man is suing Barnes for causing him injury, emotional distress, and more during this unfortunate event.

David Patterson Jr. — the ex of Barnes’ current fiancee — filed the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ Sports, in L.A. County Superior Court on Friday.

In the suit, Patterson Jr. claims he had no idea Barnes would be at the much-anticipated Niners vs. Cowboys playoff game in Santa Clara on Sunday … but said when the two happened to run into each other in a concourse at Levi’s Stadium, they began yelling at each other from about 20 feet away.

Barnes is well known for being somebody that won’t back down against anybody, not even Kobe Bryant. He once tried to fight Derek Fisher, who happened to be with the mother of his kids, but they made amends over the years and now are apparently cool.

We hope that this situation gets solved in the best way and the former player-turned-analyst learns from this, just like the man on the other side. Violence is never the answer, especially knowing of the serious consequences it can have.
