Draymond Green’s future with the Golden State Warriors has been a big topic of discussion around the NBA for a while now. The big man hasn’t had the best couple of years with the Dubs, especially with his tumultuous seasons.

Last year, he returned to the top, helping the Warriors win their 4th NBA championship in eight years, but the player is still mentioned in trade rumors around the league, while others say he might be out of the team soon. Following his infamous altercation with Jordan Poole, a Green exit from the Warriors seems more likely and the player is well aware of that.

Green understands that the NBA is a business and recently talked about the possibility of him leaving the team given the big issue they would have in hand with the luxury tax and the big payroll the franchise has right now.

Draymond Green Knows His Future With Warriors Isn’t Secured

Talking with Taylor Rooks of Bleacher Report, where he discussed his relationship with Jordan Poole, Draymond also talked about his future with the Warriors, keeping it real and saying that he’s ready for whatever happens.

“Quite frankly, the writing is on the wall. I understand the business. We tend to get into this mindset that someone owes us something because of what we’ve accomplished. You’d be an idiot to walk around feeling that way. Like, I feel like you’re just setting yourself up for failure. You’re setting yourself up for heartbreak. You’re setting yourself up for disappointment as opposed to saying, ‘No, let me learn this business.’ If you don’t get to know the business, then you can be blindsided and be like, ‘Oh, man, everything I’ve done there. I thought I’d be there forever.’ I would love to be. I understand the luxury tax. I understand you got these young guys and contracts up, and they have to get paid. Like, I understand all of those things. And so, just for me, that’s what I mean by the writings on the wall.”

Green keeps enjoying his time with the Golden State Warriors, and living historical moments with the Dubs. On Friday night, he played in a record-setting game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Meanwhile, the Dubs keep trying to climb position on the Western Conference standings, but all the noise surrounding Draymond and even Klay Thompson’s future with the team could be a distraction for them.
