The Denver Nuggets are strongly establishing themselves as the best team in the Western Conference, with Nikola Jokic leading them from the front and building up to winning a third consecutive MVP. After 2 years of injury struggles, the healthy Nuggets are living up to their potential and rising above the pack in the Western Conference.

Nuggets’ head coach Michael Malone deserves a lot of credit for creating the schemes that have allowed the Nuggets to succeed. His deployment of Aaron Gordon this season has been incredible to watch, with Gordon establishing himself as an All-NBA defender and one of the most efficient scorers in the league.

Malone is likely to be voted in as the Western Conference coach for the All-Star game, an honor he also earned in 2019. But when it comes to spending All-Star weekend in Utah, Malone explained that his wife will be very upset if he’s called to coach as they have a vacation to Las Vegas planned.

Out of all teams in the West, the Nuggets seem like the safest bet. Preseason favorites like the Golden State Warriors, Phoenix Suns, and LA Clippers have struggled for a myriad of reasons and have been fighting to stay above .500 for the last month. The Pelicans and Grizzlies are still considered young squads that may need another year of playoff experience to compete against a team like Denver.

They are well-coached and have built years of continuity with Malone, Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter Jr., and Jamal Murray. They’ve been close to the Finals before, but it seems this is the year they can finally clinch it, provided they stay healthy.
